The Pre Republic Era
In the pre Republic era, the Jedi had yet to be founded, there was no schism between darkness and light, merely those who had yet to join together to grow and learn that they were not alone.
In these long gone days, the mysterious Celestials of Father, Son and Daughter were worshiped. The Kwa traveled the galaxy in amazing ships that called on the power of the Force. Great machines were built and even celestial phenomena, made not by nature but by beings.
But in their wandering in the stars, the Kwa on meeting the Rakata, unleashed a terrible evil than would terrify, enslave and conquer a galaxy. Only those who felt the call of the giant tho yor ships were spared, taking them to a secret system where their Force powers would grow and the two moons that circled the world would teach them that without balance their powers would be a deadly storm. But they will not be hidden forever. Can their Force enhanced alchemy and weaponry and skill match the challenge of the power mad Rakata? And even if it does what will it cost?
In this pre Republic era there is no guarantee that the future will come to be, of Jedi and Sith, of Republic or Empire.
Infinity Gates
Their infinity gates allow them to travel vast distances. They were happy to share their tech with other species.

High Tech Outer Rim Travelers
Unlike the Kwa, they didn’t share technology unless they believed a people could develop it themselves. They did help maintain what they did share for a price.
Kwa meet Rakata
Thinking introducing them to a wider galaxy would calm their savage nature, they shared technology. It drastically backfired as using technology of the Dark Side, they became conquerors.

Kwa invent Tho Yor
Sending these to worlds with Force Sensitives who were drawn to them, they carried them off to Tython in the inner core. Their they were safe from the Rakata and became Jedaii, with their non Force sensitive heirs taming the system. They became rangers, helping keep the peace and balance with the Force.

Technology
They used their new skills to conquer & make weapons, such as the Forge, the Star Forge, Star maps. They enslave or destroy most they encounter, devastating worlds. The Sith species is one of few that fought them off.

Losing their Powers
The Rakata use Force sensitives to power their dark side technology. Their own ability to use the Force was waning. So Tython seemed a rich world to conquer.
The infinite Empire attacks
The Infinite Empire sent infiltrators into the Tython system and soon war was waged across the system. They stopped the Rakata but the need to use the dark side and it’s weapons left a mark on some. Their creatures also, such as the flesh raiders, remained loose in the system.
Balance
Some Jedaii, such as Rajivari and Lok, were warriors who had slipped deeper to the dark side than others. The details are lost to time, but it is known they battled their brethren on Tython, their ancient war droids long after caused trouble for the Jedi that served the Republic.
