Movie Character – Chewbacca – Expanded

Chewbacca
Chewbacca, in his own tribute comic book by Dark Horse. This was a mini series of 4 issues.

Chewbacca the wookiee was of the village,  Rwookrrorro. His family included  his father, Attichicuk, a sister, Kallabow, nephew, Lowbacca, and eventually a wife named Mallatobuck and son named Lumpawarrump.

As a youth he was impatient to be considered an adult, and recklessly descended into the shadowlands to prove himself. Unfortunately, younger friends followed him. When they stumbled on Slavers, one of the young ones was killed, though the slavers were stopped.

Chewbacca lived through the Clone Wars as well as the Rebellion. During his early years he was adventurous and brave, battling would be slavers on his home world.

By the end of the Clone Wars when his world was invaded, he returned to fight, but not, apparently to his home village, and fought alongside old friends like Tarfful. During this time the Clones turned on the Jedi and Chewbacca helped Yoda escaped. Unfortunately, the Empire wanted Wookiees as slaves to help build the Death Star. When other Jedi came seeking Yoda, the Empire used it as an excuse to bombard the planet and Chewbacca was forced to flee.

He fought the Empire in his own way for a time, freeing the young captive wookiees enslaved even if they were from rival tribes. When captured himself, he urged them to rise up together to fight. When the Empire arrived, all were gone. The soldier finding him refused to kill him on direct orders….more than once, even after he was put on a slave detail. That soldier was Han Solo, who lost his career over it. Chewbacca felt he owed him a life debt and over time the two became partners and confidants. Chewbacca was his co pilot even before he won the Millenium Falcon.

‘Chewie’ helped Han in his smuggling career, often acting as his conscience.  Eventually he made his way home of a visit and proposed marriage to his old flame, Mallatobuck, in traditional wookiee fashion. She accepted. Afterward he went back to adventuring with Han, but in the meantime he had a son, Lumpawarrump. His father, Attichicuk, looked after them.

Chewbacca went on to help the Rebellion with Han and after Han and Leia were married and had children, he was often time both body guard and baby sitter. For him, nothing was more important than family, both his and Han’s.  His own nephew was trained as a Jedi.
