Dooku

The man known as Count Dooku, also known as Darth Tyrannus, was once a highly regarded Jedi Master. If he had one weakness he refused to recognize, it was pride. He firmly believed that each individual was alone and that betrayal was inevitable. He had an inflexible sense of fairness. Dooku was a Jedi for seventy years.

Dooku was one of the most accomplished young Jedi as a youth. He excelled in all his classes and studies. He was taught as a youngling by Master Yoda, who had a keen eye toward his one weakness, his pride. Young Dooku was eventually chosen as padawan by Master Thame Cerulian. Thame had an interest in study and in the Sith. As an adult, he was one of the most respected of lightsaber masters, preferring the rare form two.

Dooku’s Relationships:

Dooku had parents and relatives on his homeworld on Sorenno. However, he had no relationship with his kin.

His closest friend was Lorian Nod. But Lorian was not chosen as padawan. Dooku didn’t know how to reassure his friend. The boy took a forbidden Sith holocron from the Jedi archives, and when caught, he blamed Dooku. This destroyed their friendship. It also led to his perpetual believe that any close relationship would lead to betrayal in the end.

Dooku had at least two padawans. The first was Qui-Gon Jinn, whose own influence apparently kept Dooku from falling at least once. From Dooku, Qui-Gon learned that keeping the Council in the dark at times allowed for flexibility. However, he believed in and had close friendships, resisting Dooku’s warnings of betrayal.

His second apprentice was Komari Vosa. Vosa was at Gallidraan when the Jedi were fooled into destorying the Mandaloreans. She was becoming foolishly emotionally attached to her Master, and this led him to cut her off, with the approval of the Jedi. She was captured by the Banda Gora after joining a strike team to stop them. Tortured and driven to madness, she turned to the Dark Side, and became leader of the Banda Gora. She became the high priestess who used her power to turn the army of drug addicts into slaves and murderers.

Master Dooku did teach others lightsaber combat before leaving the Order. Afterward, he returned to Serenno to reclaim his hereditary title.

History

Dooku had a highly successful career as a Jedi Knight. He captured Lorian Nod, ending his reign as a pirate and ransomer of senators. He was greatly disillusioned when tricked at Galidraan into helping destroy the Jedi.

Sith Lord, Count Dooku, Darth Tyrannus

The fall came after Qui-Gon Jinn’s death. Approached by Darth Sidious, he found he had more in common than different with his goals. Dooku murdered his friend Sifo-Dyas, who suspected the rise of the Sith and took action to undo it.

His job now, as a Sith, was to form the Sepparatist movement to undermine the Republic.

Dooku’s Relationships

The former Master was now an apprentice again, to Darth Sidious.

He now had several dark acolytes he took control of the training of. All were deadly.

Asajj Ventress, trained by a Jedi only to be orphaned, desiring to be Sith.

Grievous, a cyborg general with no Force abilities but whose cyber components and multi arms gave him the means to battle with 4 lightsabers.

Skorr and Sora Bulq, fallen Jedi both.

Quinlan Vos, who he knew was sent to infiltrate his group, but who he set out to try and turn to the dark side for real.

There were several others, including a doppleganger of himself which was useful for diverting attention.

History

Dooku was sworn in blood, killing Sifo Dyas. Rather than a Jedi, he it was that set up the contest for the progenitor of the Clone Army. Ultimately, this person would have to beat his former padawan, Komari Vosa. Jango Fett was a convenient choice, given the ultimate role of the clones, having no love for the Jedi after Galidraan.

From the moment Geonosis was revealed, Dooku was responsible for mass murder. Many Jedi died at the hands of those he trained. He was also responsible for unearthing the Force Harvester and destroying many with both it and a bioweapon unleashed on Oma D’un.

At one point, he did send word to Yoda that he wished to end the war. Knowing it to be a trap, Yoda did, nonetheless, go to see him on Vjun and try to win him back. He came very close, until Obi-Wan and Anakin appeared, having been sent after him after he was discovered and his companions killed. Jealous, Dooku turned on him and fought, launching a missile at the building and fleeing.

Dooku’s final battle was lost due to his own hubris. Belatedly, he realized Kenobi and Skywalker had perfected separate battle styles that complemented each other and that his own style was weak against. While he was able to knock Obi-Wan unconscious, Anakin was able to literally disarm him. Ultimately, Dooku was undone by his own Master Sidious. He didn’t foresee him turning on him and urging Anakin Skywalker to kill him.
