Jedi Master Ki-Adi-Mundi

Era: Old Republic Prequels

Ki-Adi-Mundi is a rare Jedi Cerean male. He has more in common with Anakin Skywalker than even Anakin knows.

He was discovered by Anya Kuro, already 4 years old, in a farmers home. His family was reluctant to give him up to the Jedi, but the attacks of bandits and raiders convinced them that they needed a Jedi for Cerea’s protection. It also was for his own, since the raiders might kidnap one of the rare male cereans to add to their numbers.

Ki-Adi-Mundi Relationships

Masters: He was discovered by Anya Kuro, who would one day be known as the Dark Woman. He was apparently taken as a padawan by Master Yoda himself.

Padawans:

The only known padawans include Asharad Hett, son of the Jedi Sharad Hett, who was raised among the Tuskens. Asharad later went to train under the Dark Woman, Anya Kuro.

Anakin Skywalker was assigned as his padawan briefly, after Kenobi was presumed dead on Jabiim. He found Anakin a difficult apprentice, given his tendency to disobey orders and rush into things. They were together when Anakin sensed Obi-Wan and they rescued him. He was relieved to relinquish him to Obi-Wans tutaledge.

Dama Montalvo was another orphaned Padawan, who was eventually assinged another Master.

Family:

Ki-Adi-Mundi had an exemption from the Jedi Council allowing him to have a family due to the low Cerean male birthrate. He had a wife and honor wives. He also had daughters. Sadly, these were apparently lost during the Clone Wars. His homeworld of Cerea was not a member of the Republic and in spite of being a Jedi sworn to defend it, he was also a vocal opponent of joining, due to the crime and pollution that corporations would bring in.

His family included a mother and father (names unknown), a sister Droe, several other sisters (again, names unknown.)

His wives included
Shea (bond wife) and Mawin

He had several children, all daughters; most are unknown but for Sylvn, who got into a great deal of trouble before he rescued her. He treasured them, though he would’ve liked a son.

Mundi’s family was apparently lost in the Battle of Cerea. There were no remains.

Friends: He was well respected among the Cerean elders. He also had contacts in the Outsider citadel, including Ydde, an Ortolan who had a family, who occasionally gave him information.

Ki-Adi had tangled with the Hutts after Sylvn was enslaved by one. He’d also been betrayed by them in an attempt to kill him off.

The Jedi Council

Ki-Adi-Mundi was first elected to the Jedi Council as a Knight, to temporarily take the place of Master Giett who was going on a long term mission. Later he took up a more permanent seat and was promoted to Master, apparently after the Battle of Naboo. This is unusual, as one usually had to train a Padawan to reach the rank.

During the Clone Wars, as with all the Jedi Knights, he was a General. There were times the Jedi, Ki-Adii-Mundi included, were given missions that in reality had a different objective altogether, one only the clones knew. The Chancellor had given them these orders directly, bypassing the Jedi.

The Jedi Master was on Mygeeto when he was murdered by his own Clone Troopers.
